About The Centre

Maniltoa Children’s Centre opened in late January 2020 in Coolalinga, near the Coolalinga Shopping Centre. The centre has been designed with a natural flow between the indoor and outdoor environments, where children can explore and discover in a play-based learning environment. Our goal is to provide a safe, stimulating and nurturing environment where every child can thrive.

There are four flexible groupings (infants, toddlers, Kinder and Preschool) based on age and developmental observation, and children move through spaces in collaboration with families and educators. The fundamental premise of the design is removing any institutional architecture and creating a home-like environment that is warm and welcoming and inspires early learning.  Our curriculum, philosophy, and belief that children have the right to learn and develop in a caring environment drive the play-based educational program. We also offer a Preschool program (for children turning 4 years old before June 30) that runs five days a week from 9 am to 2 pm with a qualified early childhood teacher.

The Maniltoa Children’s Centre Philosophy and Mission

SLOW DOWN We take a thoughtful, reflective approach to caring for children. We support intentional learning related to health, safety, nutrition and well-being.

EMPOWER CHILDREN We believe in empowering children to self-regulate and build the foundations for effective lifelong learning by encouraging social competency.

SEE LEARNING Maniltoa Children's Centre is a unique early learning facility in that we take a step back and allow children to learn through play. Our highly trained educators are always on hand to guide and support the children, but we believe that it is through play that they will learn best. We pay attention to their actions, decisions, interactions, expressions, reactions and deliberations and use this information to help them grow and develop.

CREATE LEARNING Maniltoa Children's Centre is committed to providing a play-based learning environment that helps every child progress towards important early learning outcomes. Our centre has created an environment that encourages children to explore, problem-solve and think critically through play. We believe that all children have the right to a high-quality education, and our play-based curriculum is designed to ensure that every child has a positive and enriching experience.

TRUST CHILDREN To be initiators, explorers and capable partners in constructing knowledge.

CHAMPIONING ANTI-BIAS Confronting and eliminating barriers of prejudice, misinformation, and bias, Challenging aspects of personal and social identity through a lens of social justice and diversity.

FAMILY PARTNERSHIPS Creating collaborative spaces, listening and learning, seeking understanding, and embracing the power that families bring to our learning community.

COMMUNITY CONNECTIONS We learn about our local area and use the community as a resource across all aspects of our curriculum.

PROFESSIONAL LEARNING Our educators are continuous learners and informed advocates for young children and their families to be competent in their profession and excel in it.

LEADING QUALITY Through a culture of reflective thinking and inquiry, we lead pedagogical knowledge and practice to have a shared understanding and commitment to quality.

ENVIRONMENTAL STEWARDSHIP By fostering a meaningful connection to the natural environment, we support children to grow into lifelong environmental stewards.
