Murraya Children's Centre is an early childhood care centre dedicated to providing high-quality care that is responsive to the needs of families and children. We aim to provide a safe, stimulating and nurturing environment where children can learn, grow and develop

Our Centre’s Core Philosophies

Relationships

Murraya Children's Centre understands that young children experience their world as an environment of relationships. These relationships affect virtually all aspects of their development – intellectual, social, emotional, physical and behavioural.

Murraya Children's Centre recognises the importance of relationships in early childhood development. We believe that children develop best when they build friendships with other children and have strong and supportive relationships with significant people inside and outside their families.

Our curriculum promotes the interconnectedness between social/emotional development and intellectual growth. We believe that secure, caring relationships influence the development of important capabilities in children, including greater social competence, enhanced thinking and reasoning skills, and greater academic learning. Murraya Children's Centre is committed to providing a safe, supportive environment where children can thrive and reach their full potential.

Environment

Murraya Children's Centre is committed to providing children with opportunities to explore and discover the world around them. Our indoor and outdoor spaces are carefully organised and designed to promote active inquiry-based learning. Every material is chosen for its purpose, and our environment is ever-evolving to meet the needs of our children. We encourage collaboration, communication, and exploration through our carefully designed spaces and materials.

The image of the child as being confident and capable is reflected in our practices and spaces that meet children’s need for challenging play, with managed and controlled risk-taking as part of everyday practice. Children climb trees, create creeks, care for the centre's animals, including ducks, chickens, cats and rabbits and explore the natural environment. Sustainable practices and environmental appreciation are fostered through indoor and outdoor spaces. Murraya Children's Centre is a place where children can discover, learn and grow.

Being Progressive

Murraya Children’s Centre is a progressive centre-based education and care service. Our educators use their professional learning, commitment to continuous improvement and reflection to challenge how they work together and with children and families. We explore relationships with living and non-living things and assist children in developing an awareness of the impact we have on the environment.

Our mission, identity and commitment to progressive thinking and knowing are at the heart of everything we do. Through our responsive curriculum, we facilitate learning experiences that are both memorable and significant. Murraya Children’s Centre is a place where children can feel safe to take risks, try new things and be themselves. We nurture each child’s uniqueness and support them to reach their full potential. Families are an integral part of our community, and we value their input in shaping our practices. Together, we build solid foundations for life.
